Download Introductory Document (pdf) We stated at the outset that this was not a traditional psychiatric conference but an intersection of stories, practices, experiences, studies and researches, a sort of forum in order to reunite and give value to the very diverse group of networks that have been formed over the last 40 years, in Italy and around the world, around the issue of closing asylums and practices in the fight against exclusion. We are providing the Meeting with the necessary space and a minimum of infrastructure to discuss issues, questions, suggestions and proposals. Once every decade, since 1977, we have summoned the “vital forces” to Trieste in order to continue a march that is unending. A march which is not linear, and which is marked by the questions posed by women and men who continue to ask why? And when these questions address reality, especially institutional reality, asking why things are the way they are and not some other way can create an unexpected force. Many persons have responded with enthusiasm to our invitation, sending proposals and messages, and engaging with us in an exchange filled with great hope. This response has forced us to expand the map of the original Meeting, and add or modify a number of workshops. In this programme folder you will find a very reductive summary of the richness of your contributions. Only the names of the speakers for the plenary sessions which will start off each day are indicated with precision. For the workshops, it was more difficult to obtain a detailed and complete profile of all the participants, but no one who contacted us has been excluded. Everyone will have the possibility of speaking and participating in the discussions. And then there is the “Big Tent”, our meeting place during the evenings, where we can discuss the founding of the international network for community healthcare. This folder is only a first indication of how rich the preparatory phase has been, in the hope that the actual Meeting in Trieste will be even richer. Thanks to audio, video and webTV and the work of journalists, workshop coordinators and photographers all the proceedings will be documented and recorded. The only thing lost will be the emotion of meeting and talking together. programme coordination group and organisational committee trieste2010@ass1.sanita.fvg.it |
